The shortest airport run in the county
Eight to fifteen minutes is short enough to change the arithmetic of a trip rather than just shave time off it. Turn west instead and the Russian River Valley opens up within minutes. The Town Green and evenings in Windsor
Windsor Town Green is the town's civic and social centre — a proper green ringed by restaurants and shops that carries a busy warm-weather event calendar. It functions the way a plaza does in the older wine-country towns, but with parking that is easier and a crowd that is more local than visiting. Between Santa Rosa and Healdsburg, which is the point
Windsor's position on US-101 is a genuine planning advantage. Healdsburg's three appellations are a short run north, Santa Rosa's restaurants, hotels, and the Charles M. Schulz Museum are a short run south, and Sebastopol and the west county are twenty-odd minutes southwest. For a group that wants northern Sonoma without booking into the most expensive plaza in the county, this is the address that works. It is also useful for wedding weekends: guests staying in Windsor can be shuttled to Healdsburg and Russian River venues on loops short enough to run repeatedly, which is not true from Santa Rosa or Petaluma.

A short airport run makes group arrivals unusually easy to coordinate here.
