Why St. Helena chooses Irydn

St. Helena is where Napa Valley's history is concentrated. Charles Krug Winery and Beringer Vineyards both predate 1880, and both sit roughly a mile from Main Street — you can stand in front of two of California's oldest continuously operating estates within ten minutes of each other. Duckhorn Vineyards anchors the modern era a short run out the other side, and the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone occupies the stone building above town that was built as a winery itself.

Irydn chauffeurs tasting days, Main Street pickups, and airport transfers through St. Helena from a Napa Valley base in Yountville, fifteen minutes south, in mid-size and large luxury SUVs, an executive Sprinter with captain's chairs, a passenger van, and a luxury bus. We hold California PUC charter-party permit TCP 0039081A, carry commercial insurance, and staff dispatch 24/7 at (415) 237-0073. Upvalley is where local knowledge stops being a nicety and starts being the reason your third appointment holds.

Local pickup coverage

Popular St. Helena pickup points for car service

We plan each St. Helena ride around the actual pickup address, not just the city name. For airport transportation, dispatch usually builds around SR-29 and an off-peak run to San Francisco International (SFO) of about 75–95 minutes. Add gate codes, hotel entrances, winery appointment times, or venue notes when booking so your chauffeur can arrive at the right door the first time.

Why Choose Us

Northern California's Licensed Black Car & Wine Tour Service

Two pre-1880 estates within a mile

Charles Krug and Beringer sit close enough to Main Street that a morning here needs almost no driving between stops.

We plan around Main Street, not through it

SR-29 becomes a one-lane town street here. The Silverado Trail is the parallel we take whenever the destination allows.

Greystone drop and collect

The CIA at Greystone runs on its own arrival windows for courses and demonstrations. We time the day to them.

Oakville Grade or Trinity Road

Both cross to Sonoma. One is quick, one is scenic and slow. We will tell you which your schedule can actually afford.

STS is the closest airport

45–60 minutes off-peak, roughly half the run to SFO. Worth checking against your route map before booking flights.

Permit TCP 0039081A

A licensed California charter-party carrier with commercial insurance and background-checked professional chauffeurs.

Black Cadillac Escalade ESV large luxury SUV — Irydn chauffeured wine tours and airport transfers in St. Helena, Napa Valley
The large luxury SUV — six guests with genuine case room for an upvalley tasting day.

Two estates from the 1870s, a mile apart

No other stretch of Napa Valley clusters its founding-era estates like this. Charles Krug and Beringer Vineyards both date to before 1880 and both sit effectively on St. Helena's doorstep, which makes a morning here unusually efficient: two appointments with almost no driving between them, and time left over for a third. Duckhorn Vineyards adds a contemporary anchor without pushing the day out of town. This is the itinerary we suggest for guests who have already done the flashier new estates and want the part of the valley that was here first — and it is one of the few Napa days where three appointments genuinely fits without anyone being rushed through a pour.

SR-29 becomes Main Street, and that changes everything

Upvalley, the highway stops behaving like one. Through town, SR-29 is Main Street: a lane each way, crosswalks, angled parking, and pedestrians who are not looking. Summer weekends and harvest afternoons back it up properly, and any schedule built on map estimates falls apart here before it falls apart anywhere else. Two practical consequences follow. We build genuine slack into every St. Helena itinerary rather than treating the drive as a rounding error, and we use the Silverado Trail as the parallel north-south route whenever the destination allows, because it covers the same length of valley without a town centre in the middle of it. Knowing which of the two to take, and when, is most of the job.

Greystone and the food side of the valley

The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone sits in a stone landmark above town and gives St. Helena something the pure tasting-room towns lack: a running calendar of demonstrations, courses, and industry events, each with its own arrival window. We do a fair amount of drop-and-collect for it, plus the restaurant runs along Main Street that tend to follow. A Greystone morning paired with two afternoon appointments makes a well-balanced day that does not involve eight straight hours of tasting — worth knowing if your party includes someone who would rather eat than drink, or someone who has to work tomorrow.

Crossing west into Sonoma County

From St. Helena the routes over to Sonoma are real options rather than theoretical ones, and they are not equivalent. The Oakville Grade drops southwest toward Glen Ellen and is genuinely quick in a vehicle sized for it. Trinity Road is the more scenic version and considerably slower — a fine trade on an unhurried day and a poor one when a reservation is waiting on the other side. Further north, SR-128 out of Calistoga runs across to Alexander Valley and Healdsburg. If your trip mixes both counties, tell us at booking and we will pick the crossing that suits the vehicle and the clock, because a Sprinter and a mid-size SUV do not experience these roads the same way.

Airports, arrivals, and how upvalley pricing works

St. Helena sits far enough north that airport drive times stretch out: figure 75 to 95 minutes off-peak to SFO, 70 to 90 to OAK, 75 to 95 to SMF, and — the one that surprises people every time — 45 to 60 to STS in Sonoma County, comfortably the shortest of the four. Transfers are all-inclusive at a rate you see before booking, with tolls and fuel already inside it, and we monitor the inbound so a late landing does not become a wait charge. Tasting days are hourly with a daily minimum, because upvalley appointments run long and a fixed price would either shortchange you or pad the quote. Tasting fees go straight to the wineries; nothing is marked up through us.

Why Choose Us

Why St. Helena Chooses Irydn

From every St. Helena address to SFO, OAK, SMF, and STS — and every Upvalley Napa destination in between — we deliver chauffeured transport built on a licensed fleet, career chauffeurs, and flat-rate quotes given before you book.

  • Licensed California Charter-Party Carrier

Irydn operates under California PUC permit TCP 0039081A — a credential you can look up on the CPUC carrier register before you book. Commercially insured, with every vehicle and chauffeur covered for passenger transport. Ask any St. Helena operator for their TCP number; the ones who can't produce it aren't licensed to carry you.

  • Five Vehicle Classes, Four to Twenty-Four Passengers

A mid-size luxury SUV for couples and solo executives, a large luxury SUV when there's real luggage, an executive Sprinter with captain's chairs for tasting days, a Sprinter passenger van for full teams, and a luxury bus for wedding blocks and offsites. One company, one call — no subcontracting the vehicle you actually booked.

  • Background-Checked Professional Chauffeurs

Career chauffeurs, not rideshare drivers. Every one is background-checked, licensed, and trained in hospitality and St. Helena routes — which winery gates take an extra ten minutes, which hotel entrance the vehicle actually fits. The standard is identical no matter which Irydn vehicle pulls up.

  • Flat-Rate Transfers, Quoted Upfront

Airport and point-to-point transfers are flat-rate and quoted before you book — tolls, fuel, and standard wait time included. No surge, no meter, no bridge-traffic surcharge. Wine tours are hourly with a daily minimum, because a tasting day isn't a transfer and a fixed price would either shortchange the day or pad the quote.

  • Flight Tracking + 24/7 Live Dispatch

Every SFO, OAK, SMF, and STS pickup is flight-tracked in real time, so your chauffeur is curbside whether you land early, late, or diverted. Dispatch answers the phone around the clock at (415) 237-0073 — dawn departures, red-eye arrivals, and overnight runs included.

  • Corporate Accounts & Consolidated Billing

Smoke-free, late-model, commercially insured vehicles backed by corporate account management, consolidated billing, and the discretion executive and group clients expect. One invoice, one point of contact, every ride documented.

  • St. Helena & Main Street St. Helena

St. Helena is where the valley's oldest estates cluster — Charles Krug and Beringer both predate 1880, and both sit within a mile of Main Street.

Step-by-step

How to book St. Helena car service to San Francisco International (SFO) airport

A six-step walkthrough of the booking flow, from entering your St. Helena pickup address to confirming a flat-rate quote with live flight tracking — or building a wine-country itinerary instead.

  1. 1

Enter your St. Helena pickup address

Start at /reservation/ and enter the full St. Helena address — residential, corporate campus, hotel, inn, or winery. Gated-property access codes and specific entrance notes can be added to the booking notes. We pick up regularly near Main Street St. Helena, Culinary Institute of America at Greystone, Beringer Vineyards.

  2. 2

Choose your destination and travel date

Northern California is a multi-airport market, so pick the airport that actually fits your itinerary. From St. Helena the usual choice is San Francisco International (SFO), typically about 75–95 minutes off-peak via SR-29. Building a tasting day instead? Enter your first winery and we'll route the rest.

  3. 3

Choose your vehicle and confirm party size

Pick the vehicle that fits the group: a mid-size luxury SUV (up to 4), a large luxury SUV (up to 6), an executive Sprinter van with captain's chairs (up to 11), a Sprinter passenger van (up to 14), or a luxury bus (up to 24). Every vehicle is late-model, commercially insured, and operated by a background-checked professional chauffeur under California PUC permit TCP 0039081A.

  4. 4

Add Meet & Greet or a tasting itinerary

Curbside airport pickup is standard and included in your flat-rate St. Helena quote. Meet & Greet inside baggage claim with a name placard and luggage assistance is an optional add-on — worth it for long-haul arrivals into SFO or OAK. Wine tours can include cooler storage and glassware on request. For tasting days, Beringer Vineyards, Charles Krug Winery, Duckhorn Vineyards are all on our regular St. Helena rotation — send us the list and we'll sequence it.

  5. 5

    Review your flat-rate quote

Your St. Helena rate is quoted upfront — flat-rate and all-inclusive for transfers, hourly with a daily minimum for tours. No surge, no metered fares, no hidden fees. Tolls, fuel, and standard wait time are built in.
