Guerneville Car Service & Russian River Evening Transportation

Why Guerneville chooses Irydn

Guerneville sits down in a redwood canyon at the point where the Russian River gives up running west-southwest and turns hard for the sea, and the two roads that reach it — River Road from US-101 and SR-116 from Sebastopol — both drop into that canyon rather than crossing open country to get there. The practical consequence is that Guerneville, ZIP 95446, keeps a different clock from the rest of the county. It is a resort town with an evening calendar: dinners on Main Street, weekend arrivals that land on a Friday night rather than a Saturday morning, event weekends that fill every room between here and Monte Rio, and returns that happen well after the last tasting room anywhere has locked up.

Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve is a couple of miles north of town, Johnson's Beach is a short walk from the middle of it, and Korbel Champagne Cellars, Porter Creek Vineyards and Rochioli Vineyards sit along the river corridor east of town. Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County is 30 to 42 minutes away, SFO 85 to 105, and OAK 90 to 110. Irydn covers Guerneville from its Petaluma base under California PUC charter-party permit TCP 0039081A, with dispatch staffed at every hour of the night at (415) 237-0073.

Local pickup coverage

Popular Guerneville pickup points for car service

We plan each Guerneville ride around the actual pickup address, not just the city name. For airport transportation, dispatch usually builds around River Road and SR-116 and an off-peak run to Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County (STS) of about 30–42 minutes. Add gate codes, hotel entrances, winery appointment times, or venue notes when booking so your chauffeur can arrive at the right door the first time.

Why Choose Us

Northern California's Licensed Black Car & Wine Tour Service

Dispatch that is awake when Guerneville is

The town's volume is six in the evening to one in the morning. A pre-booked chauffeur is the same quoted rate at either end.

River Road handed over, not attempted

Two lanes, no continuous shoulder, redwood canopy, deer and river fog. Our chauffeurs drive it nightly; visitors should not.

Event weekends held end to end

Arrival, dinner, the night itself and the ride back booked as one hold rather than four separate requests that may not be available.

30–42 minutes to STS

Against 85–105 to SFO and 90–110 to OAK. Sonoma County's own airport is by far the shortest way into the canyon.

Storm-season honesty

The Russian River floods and River Road closes. We track it, re-route via SR-116, and say so plainly rather than guessing.

Down in the canyon where the river turns west

The geography here is unusual enough to change how a trip is planned. Guerneville occupies a floor perhaps a few hundred yards wide, with second-growth redwood and fir climbing the slopes on both sides and the Russian River running along one edge of town. That means the light goes early — a canyon this steep is in shade a good while before sunset — and it means the two approaches, River Road tracking the water in from the east and SR-116 dropping in from the Sebastopol side, are the only sensible ways in for a full-size vehicle. Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve is the anchor above town and the reason a lot of first-time visitors come at all, Johnson's Beach puts a gravel river bar within a walk of Main Street Guerneville, and the three or four blocks between them hold most of the restaurants and lodging. It is a compact place, which is genuinely useful: once we have set you down on Main Street, the rest of the evening is on foot.

Guerneville's clock runs late, and the booking should match it

Almost everywhere else we work in Sonoma County, the busy hours are eleven to five. In Guerneville they are six to one. The bookings that come out of this town are Friday-night arrivals from a Bay Area airport, dinner runs down from a lodge or a river house, groups moving between Main Street and Monte Rio, and the ride home at an hour when nobody in the party should be behind a wheel. That shifts what the right structure is. A single leg in or out is flat-rate and quoted upfront, which is the correct shape for an arrival. An evening with three or four moves in it is better booked as hourly as-directed service with a daily minimum, because the chauffeur and vehicle stay with the group between the restaurant, the bar and the lodging rather than being dispatched away and re-summoned from thirty minutes down River Road. Guerneville is not a place where a car appears in four minutes if you did not arrange one.

The summer calendar fills the entire town

Guerneville is one of Northern California's best-known LGBTQ+ resort destinations, and it has been one for decades. From late spring into September the town runs a dense calendar of weekend events — resort parties, festivals, benefit weekends, and the ordinary Saturday-night volume of a place people come specifically to be out in. Rooms in Guerneville, Rio Nido and Monte Rio go early for those dates, and so does ground transportation, because the same few hundred visitors all want to move at roughly the same hours. Our advice is unglamorous: book the weekend, not the trip. Tell us the arrival flight, the dinner reservation and the approximate end of the night when you first enquire, and we will hold the vehicle across all of it. Groups of eight to eleven usually take the luxury Sprinter van with captain's chairs; a larger block moves in the fourteen-seat Sprinter passenger van or the twenty-four-seat luxury bus.

River Road after sunset is the leg people hand over

This is the honest part. River Road between US-101 and Guerneville is a two-lane county road with the Russian River on one side of it and a cut bank on the other for much of its length, no continuous shoulder, a redwood canopy over long stretches, and effectively no street lighting outside the small settlements. Deer are common on it at dusk and after. When the river is running cold and the air is warm, fog forms over the water and lies across the road in patches you meet without warning. In daylight it is a beautiful drive and a popular one with cyclists, which is its own reason for patience. At eleven at night, after an evening out, driving it is the single most avoidable risk of a Guerneville weekend, and it is the specific thing our guests here are buying. Our chauffeurs run this road constantly and know where it narrows, where it bends blind and where a vehicle coming the other way needs someone to give way early.

Winter rain, the Russian River, and what we will tell you

The Russian River floods. Not every year and not usually without warning, but in a wet winter the gauge at Guerneville is watched closely by everyone who lives here, and when the river comes up, sections of River Road and the low approaches around Monte Rio and Rio Nido close. That is a real operational fact rather than a disclaimer, and we would rather say so on a page you read in advance than in a phone call at seven in the morning. What we do about it: dispatch tracks closures and gauge forecasts during storm events, we re-route through SR-116 and the Sebastopol side when the eastern approach is out, and if a road genuinely cannot be driven safely we will tell you that and move or refund the booking rather than attempt it. Winter in Guerneville is worth visiting — the canyon is at its best in rain — but it should be booked with a phone number you can actually reach.

Korbel, the river estates, and the flights that reach them

The wine here belongs to the river corridor rather than to the town. Korbel Champagne Cellars sits on River Road a short run east of Guerneville and is the estate most visitors name first; further east along the corridor toward Healdsburg, Porter Creek Vineyards and Rochioli Vineyards are the two we are asked for most, and both are small enough that appointments matter more than opening hours. A tasting day built out of Guerneville generally works as a morning and early afternoon on that corridor with the evening left in town, which suits the way the place actually operates. Tours are hourly with a daily minimum; tasting fees are paid directly to each winery at their own price and we add nothing to them. On arrivals: STS at 30 to 42 minutes is comfortably the shortest run and worth a connection if the route works, SFO is 85 to 105 and OAK 90 to 110, and every airport booking is flight-tracked so a late landing moves the pickup instead of starting a clock against you.

What a Guerneville booking usually looks like, by time of day

Unlike most of the county, the demand curve here peaks in the evening. The table below is the shape of an ordinary Guerneville weekend and how each piece of it is structured — useful when you are deciding whether to book legs or hold a vehicle.

  • Licensed California Charter-Party Carrier

Irydn operates under California PUC permit TCP 0039081A — a credential you can look up on the CPUC carrier register before you book. Commercially insured, with every vehicle and chauffeur covered for passenger transport. Ask any Guerneville operator for their TCP number; the ones who can't produce it aren't licensed to carry you.

  • Five Vehicle Classes, Four to Twenty-Four Passengers

A mid-size luxury SUV for couples and solo executives, a large luxury SUV when there's real luggage, an executive Sprinter with captain's chairs for tasting days, a Sprinter passenger van for full teams, and a luxury bus for wedding blocks and offsites. One company, one call — no subcontracting the vehicle you actually booked.

  • Background-Checked Professional Chauffeurs

Career chauffeurs, not rideshare drivers. Every one is background-checked, licensed, and trained in hospitality and Guerneville routes — which winery gates take an extra ten minutes, which hotel entrance the vehicle actually fits. The standard is identical no matter which Irydn vehicle pulls up.

  • Flat-Rate Transfers, Quoted Upfront

Airport and point-to-point transfers are flat-rate and quoted before you book — tolls, fuel, and standard wait time included. No surge, no meter, no bridge-traffic surcharge. Wine tours are hourly with a daily minimum, because a tasting day isn't a transfer and a fixed price would either shortchange the day or pad the quote.

  • Flight Tracking + 24/7 Live Dispatch

Every SFO, OAK, SMF, and STS pickup is flight-tracked in real time, so your chauffeur is curbside whether you land early, late, or diverted. Dispatch answers the phone around the clock at (415) 237-0073 — dawn departures, red-eye arrivals, and overnight runs included.

  • Corporate Accounts & Consolidated Billing

Smoke-free, late-model, commercially insured vehicles backed by corporate account management, consolidated billing, and the discretion executive and group clients expect. One invoice, one point of contact, every ride documented.

  • Guerneville & Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve

Guerneville sits down in the redwood canyon where the Russian River turns west, and its calendar runs on resort weekends and evening bookings rather than the mid-afternoon tasting rhythm of the valley floor.

Step-by-step

How to book Guerneville car service to Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County (STS) airport

A six-step walkthrough of the booking flow, from entering your Guerneville pickup address to confirming a flat-rate quote with live flight tracking — or building a wine-country itinerary instead.

  1. 1

    Enter your Guerneville pickup address

Start at /reservation/ and enter the full Guerneville address — residential, corporate campus, hotel, inn, or winery. Gated-property access codes and specific entrance notes can be added to the booking notes. We pick up regularly near Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve, Johnson's Beach, Main Street Guerneville.

  2. 2

Choose your destination and travel date

Northern California is a multi-airport market, so pick the airport that actually fits your itinerary. From Guerneville the usual choice is Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County (STS), typically about 30–42 minutes off-peak via River Road and SR-116. Building a tasting day instead? Enter your first winery and we'll route the rest.

  3. 3

Choose your vehicle and confirm party size

Pick the vehicle that fits the group: a mid-size luxury SUV (up to 4), a large luxury SUV (up to 6), an executive Sprinter van with captain's chairs (up to 11), a Sprinter passenger van (up to 14), or a luxury bus (up to 24). Every vehicle is late-model, commercially insured, and operated by a background-checked professional chauffeur under California PUC permit TCP 0039081A.

  4. 4

Add Meet & Greet or a tasting itinerary

Curbside airport pickup is standard and included in your flat-rate Guerneville quote. Meet & Greet inside baggage claim with a name placard and luggage assistance is an optional add-on — worth it for long-haul arrivals into SFO or OAK. Wine tours can include cooler storage and glassware on request. For tasting days, Korbel Champagne Cellars, Porter Creek Vineyards, Rochioli Vineyards are all on our regular Guerneville rotation — send us the list and we'll sequence it.

  5. 5

    Review your flat-rate quote

Your Guerneville rate is quoted upfront — flat-rate and all-inclusive for transfers, hourly with a daily minimum for tours. No surge, no metered fares, no hidden fees. Tolls, fuel, and standard wait time are built in.

  6. 6

    Confirm and book

Complete your Guerneville booking online in minutes or call our 24/7 dispatch line. You'll get an instant email confirmation with trip details, and your chauffeur's contact info the day of the trip. Real-time flight tracking is standard on every airport booking — pickup auto-adjusts for early arrivals and delays.

Send us the arrival, the dinner reservation and roughly when the night ends, and we will hold one vehicle across all of it rather than hoping a car is free on River Road at midnight. Quoted upfront — call (415) 237-0073 at any hour.
