One ZIP code, two elevations — and the switchback between them decides how the whole day is timed.
Why Rutherford chooses Irydn
Rutherford is a single ZIP code, 94573, spread across two elevations. Down on the valley floor at SR-29 sit Inglenook and Beaulieu Vineyard, estate properties set well back behind long driveways in the middle of the Rutherford Bench — the gravelly alluvial shelf that gives the appellation its reputation and gives the tasting room its favourite phrase, Rutherford dust. A few hundred feet above the floor, reached by a switchback climbing off the Silverado Trail, sit Rutherford Hill Winery and Auberge du Soleil, looking back down the length of the valley. Those two halves share a name and a post office and almost nothing else operationally. The drives are different lengths, the roads are different widths, the weather at eleven in the morning is frequently not the same, and any schedule treating the hillside as simply another Rutherford stop is the schedule that will break.
Irydn chauffeurs both halves from a Napa Valley base in Yountville, minutes to the south, running mid-size and large luxury SUVs, a Luxury Sprinter Van with eleven captain's chairs, a fourteen-seat Sprinter Passenger Van, and a twenty-four-seat Luxury Bus. We are a licensed California charter-party carrier under CPUC permit TCP 0039081A, commercially insured, with background-checked professional chauffeurs and flight tracking on airport bookings. Dispatch is staffed at every hour on (415) 237-0073. Ask us before you lock the day which half of Rutherford your afternoon belongs on — the answer is usually not both, and it is never both twice.
Our FleetLuxury SUVs to 24-Passenger Buses

Typical drive time from Rutherford
Estimates reflect off-peak conditions via SR-29 and the Silverado Trail. Bay Area bridge and commute traffic may extend transit time; flight-tracked pickups adjust automatically.
Local pickup coverage
We plan each Rutherford ride around the actual pickup address, not just the city name. For airport transportation, dispatch usually builds around SR-29 and the Silverado Trail and an off-peak run to San Francisco International (SFO) of about 72–92 minutes. Add gate codes, hotel entrances, winery appointment times, or venue notes when booking so your chauffeur can arrive at the right door the first time.

Why Choose Us
Rutherford's floor estates and its hillside properties share 94573 and little else. We plan them as two legs, not one stop.
Going up to Rutherford Hill and Auberge du Soleil and staying up beats yo-yoing between the floor and the hill twice in an afternoon.
A few hundred feet is enough that a terrace in late afternoon is cooler and breezier than the SR-29 estates sitting below it.
Inglenook and Beaulieu Vineyard are grounds rather than counters. We confirm the drop point with the estate when walking distance matters.
45–60 minutes off-peak against 72–92 from SFO. Genuinely worth checking the route map before you book flights into the valley.
Licensed charter-party carrier, commercially insured, background-checked chauffeurs, and flight tracking on every airport booking.
Rutherford is unincorporated: a crossroads, a post office, and a name on a great many labels rather than a town with a council and a main street. What it does have is topography, and the topography is where a chauffeur earns the booking. The valley-floor half is flat, wide, and quick — SR-29 runs through it, the Rutherford Cross Road runs across it, and the estates on it are reached by turning into a driveway. The hillside half is a climb. From the Silverado Trail the road folds back on itself repeatedly as it gains the shelf above the floor, and the last stretch to the properties up there is narrow enough that meeting a delivery truck counts as an event. In a straight line the difference between the two is nothing. In driving terms it is not remotely nothing. Guests who have booked a morning at Inglenook and a late lunch at Auberge du Soleil have not booked two Rutherford stops; they have booked two different days that happen to share a ZIP code, joined by a climb. We plan them that way, which mostly means going up once and staying up rather than yo-yoing because that is the order the reservations happened to be made in.
The Rutherford Bench is a real piece of ground — a shelf of gravel and alluvium along the western side of the valley floor, dropped there by water coming off the Mayacamas, that drains hard and warms early. Rutherford dust is the tasting-room shorthand for a fine, dusty grain of tannin that people who taste a great deal of Napa cabernet insist they find in wine grown on it. Whether you find it is between you and the glass; we drive for a living and are not going to adjudicate. What is not in dispute is that the bench explains where the floor estates sit. Inglenook and Beaulieu Vineyard occupy substantial pieces of it right at SR-29, close enough to one another that a morning covering both involves almost no driving and a fair amount of walking. These are properties with grounds rather than tasting counters, and the distance from wherever a vehicle can legitimately stop to wherever you will actually be tasting is longer here than at most Napa estates. That is worth knowing if anyone in your party would rather not walk far — tell us at booking and we will confirm the drop point with the estate in advance instead of improvising it at the gate.
The climb up to Rutherford Hill Winery and Auberge du Soleil leaves the Silverado Trail and gains a few hundred feet in a short horizontal distance, which is why it does it in switchbacks. It is a paved, maintained, entirely ordinary road for a passenger vehicle, and a considered decision for a big one. A mid-size or large luxury SUV goes up without anyone thinking about it. The Luxury Sprinter Van manages it comfortably with a chauffeur who has done the climb before. The fourteen-seat Sprinter Passenger Van and the twenty-four-seat Luxury Bus are a conversation we want at booking rather than at the foot of the hill, because the limiting factor is rarely the gradient — it is the turning space and the drop-off geometry at the top, which is not something to discover with a wedding party already aboard. Where the sensible answer for a large group is that the biggest vehicle stages below while a smaller one runs people up in two loads, we will say so while you can still plan around it. There is also a plain argument against driving this yourself: the road down is the road up, in the dark, after an afternoon of wine.
Napa Valley fog does not distribute itself evenly, and Rutherford is a good place to notice. On a summer morning the floor can sit grey and cool while the hillside above it is already in full sun, and in the evening the floor holds the day's heat after the terraces above have cooled off and picked up a breeze. Practically, this shows up in three ways. Guests dressed for a valley-floor tasting are frequently underdressed for a late afternoon above the Silverado Trail, and we would rather mention it before you leave the hotel than after. The view people book Auberge du Soleil for is a mid-to-late-afternoon proposition on a clear day and can be a flat wall of grey at ten in the morning. And the drive itself changes: a switchback in fog is a slower switchback, and an itinerary with no margin in it does not survive contact with a Napa hillside in July. None of that is an argument against the climb. It is an argument for putting the climb in the right slot in the day, which is the part guests almost never have enough local information to do themselves.
Rutherford sits at one of the valley's more useful junctions. The Rutherford Cross Road runs east from SR-29 over to the Silverado Trail, which puts the floor estates and the foot of the hillside climb a couple of minutes apart. That link is what makes a floor-and-hillside day possible at all, and it is also what makes the order matter. Our default is floor first: the SR-29 estates in the morning while the highway is still moving and the fog is often still sitting on the hill, then across the Cross Road, up the switchback, and stay up there for the afternoon and whatever the light decides to do. Reversing that works when your hillside reservation is a morning one, but it puts you back on SR-29 southbound in the late afternoon, which is the slowest thing this stretch of valley does. The one thing we will not do quietly is climb the hill twice in a day to serve two separately booked reservations. If your times are shaped that way we will ask whether one of them can move, because the alternative is spending an hour of your afternoon on a road you have already driven.
There is no airport in the Napa Valley, so every arrival is a drive, and Rutherford's numbers land in the middle of the valley's range: figure 72 to 92 minutes off-peak from SFO, 68 to 88 from OAK, 72 to 92 from SMF, and 45 to 60 from STS in Sonoma County — comfortably the shortest of the four and the one guests most often overlook when booking flights. Airport legs are quoted flat and all-inclusive, with tolls, fuel, and standard wait time already inside the figure, and we watch the inbound so an arrival that slips reschedules the pickup rather than starting a clock against you. Tasting days here are hourly against a daily minimum, which is the honest structure when part of the itinerary is a terrace lunch nobody wants rushed. Whatever the wineries and the resort charge is settled with them at whatever they charge; Irydn does not take a margin on a tasting fee. Lodging is the other thing to sort early, since Rutherford has very little of it — most guests base in St. Helena, Yountville, or the city of Napa and come in for the day. Where a party arrives on several different flights, dispatch stages the pickups so everyone reaches Rutherford together instead of in three waves.
Both halves of Rutherford share the 94573 ZIP code and the appellation name. Almost nothing else about them matches, which is why an itinerary that treats the hillside as one more valley-floor stop tends to unravel. Compared below on the things that actually change how a day gets scheduled.
| Compared on | Rutherford valley floor | Rutherford hillside |
|---|---|---|
| Approach road | SR-29 through the Rutherford crossroads | A switchback climbing off the Silverado Trail |
| Names you will recognise | Inglenook and Beaulieu Vineyard | Rutherford Hill Winery and Auberge du Soleil |
| Elevation | The valley floor, on the Rutherford Bench | A few hundred feet above it, looking back down the valley |
| Road character | Two lanes, cross traffic, farm equipment in season | Narrow, folded back on itself, little room to pass |
| A typical summer morning | Often grey and cool until the fog lifts | Frequently already above the fog, in sun |
| What to carry | Nothing in particular | A layer — the terrace runs cooler and breezier than the floor |
| Vehicle note | Every class we run parks and turns comfortably | We confirm size at booking before committing a 14- or 24-seat vehicle |
| Best slot in the day | Morning, while SR-29 is still moving | Late afternoon, when the light is the reason people come |
| Where the vehicle waits | On estate parking, a walk from where you taste | Staged at the top rather than shuttling down and back up |

Mid-size and large luxury SUVs for two to six, the executive Sprinter with captain's chairs for up to eleven, and vans and buses beyond that. Room for the cases you buy along the way. Hourly with a daily minimum; tasting fees go straight to the wineries and are never marked up by us.
Get a Quote for Napa & Sonoma Wine ToursFlat-rate transfers to all four Northern California airports from every Rutherford address, with flight tracking standard.
San Francisco (SFO), Oakland (OAK), Sacramento (SMF), and Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County (STS) — we run all four, and we will tell you honestly which one suits your trip. Flight tracking is standard on every airport booking, so pickup shifts automatically when your arrival does. Curbside or a meet-and-greet at baggage claim, in a mid-size luxury SUV for one to four, a large SUV when there are checked bags, or a Sprinter for a whole arriving group. Flat-rate and quoted upfront: tolls, fuel, and standard wait time already included.
Get a Quote for Airport Transfers — SFO, OAK, SMF & STS from RutherfordRutherford black car service built around business travel and corporate accounts.
Late-model luxury SUVs and background-checked professional chauffeurs for client pickups, roadshows, board travel, and conference blocks across Napa Valley. Corporate accounts get priority dispatch during the windows that genuinely tighten — harvest season, conference weeks, dawn airport departures — plus consolidated monthly invoicing with trip-level detail instead of a pile of receipts. One operator across wine country, the Bay Area, and the capital region. Licensed under California PUC charter-party permit TCP 0039081A.
Get a Quote for Corporate & Executive Black CarGroup movements across Napa Valley — weddings, offsites, and event shuttles.
The executive Sprinter seats up to eleven, the Sprinter passenger van up to fourteen, and the luxury bus up to twenty-four — most wedding weekends and corporate offsites end up as a mix of all three. We handle the whole shape of it: airport blocks arriving across an afternoon from four different airports, hotel-to-venue shuttle loops, a tasting afternoon in the middle of the agenda, and departure runs at the end. One schedule, one point of contact, one invoice.
Get a Quote for Weddings, Events & Group TransportationBy the hour, with your chauffeur and vehicle waiting between stops.
The right structure any time you have more than two stops: a multi-stop Rutherford business day, a tasting itinerary, a wedding-day schedule, or an evening out. The vehicle and chauffeur stay with you rather than being dispatched away and re-booked, so a meeting running twenty minutes long does not turn into a wait for a car. Billed hourly with a daily minimum, quoted upfront — no surge multipliers, in whichever vehicle class fits your party.
Get a Quote for Hourly As-Directed ServiceDirect private rides across Napa Valley and the corridors between them.
A single leg, quoted flat-rate before you book: a hotel run into San Francisco, dinner in Healdsburg, a Golden 1 Center event in Sacramento, or one of the long connector trips other operators decline — Sacramento to Napa through the Carneros gap, San Francisco to the northern Sonoma appellations. Tolls, fuel, and standard wait time are already in the number, and it does not change because traffic did.
Get a Quote for Point-to-Point TransportationWhy Choose Us
From every Rutherford address to SFO, OAK, SMF, and STS — and every Napa Valley destination in between — we deliver chauffeured transport built on a licensed fleet, career chauffeurs, and flat-rate quotes given before you book.
Irydn operates under California PUC permit TCP 0039081A — a credential you can look up on the CPUC carrier register before you book. Commercially insured, with every vehicle and chauffeur covered for passenger transport. Ask any Rutherford operator for their TCP number; the ones who can't produce it aren't licensed to carry you.
A mid-size luxury SUV for couples and solo executives, a large luxury SUV when there's real luggage, an executive Sprinter with captain's chairs for tasting days, a Sprinter passenger van for full teams, and a luxury bus for wedding blocks and offsites. One company, one call — no subcontracting the vehicle you actually booked.
Career chauffeurs, not rideshare drivers. Every one is background-checked, licensed, and trained in hospitality and Rutherford routes — which winery gates take an extra ten minutes, which hotel entrance the vehicle actually fits. The standard is identical no matter which Irydn vehicle pulls up.
Airport and point-to-point transfers are flat-rate and quoted before you book — tolls, fuel, and standard wait time included. No surge, no meter, no bridge-traffic surcharge. Wine tours are hourly with a daily minimum, because a tasting day isn't a transfer and a fixed price would either shortchange the day or pad the quote.
Every SFO, OAK, SMF, and STS pickup is flight-tracked in real time, so your chauffeur is curbside whether you land early, late, or diverted. Dispatch answers the phone around the clock at (415) 237-0073 — dawn departures, red-eye arrivals, and overnight runs included.
Smoke-free, late-model, commercially insured vehicles backed by corporate account management, consolidated billing, and the discretion executive and group clients expect. One invoice, one point of contact, every ride documented.
Rutherford splits between the valley floor and the hillside — Rutherford Hill and Auberge du Soleil sit a few hundred feet up a switchback off the Silverado Trail, which is a different drive entirely from the estates on SR-29.
Step-by-step
A six-step walkthrough of the booking flow, from entering your Rutherford pickup address to confirming a flat-rate quote with live flight tracking — or building a wine-country itinerary instead.
Start at /reservation/ and enter the full Rutherford address — residential, corporate campus, hotel, inn, or winery. Gated-property access codes and specific entrance notes can be added to the booking notes. We pick up regularly near Auberge du Soleil, the Rutherford Bench, Rutherford Cross Road.
Northern California is a multi-airport market, so pick the airport that actually fits your itinerary. From Rutherford the usual choice is San Francisco International (SFO), typically about 72–92 minutes off-peak via SR-29 and the Silverado Trail. Building a tasting day instead? Enter your first winery and we'll route the rest.
Pick the vehicle that fits the group: a mid-size luxury SUV (up to 4), a large luxury SUV (up to 6), an executive Sprinter van with captain's chairs (up to 11), a Sprinter passenger van (up to 14), or a luxury bus (up to 24). Every vehicle is late-model, commercially insured, and operated by a background-checked professional chauffeur under California PUC permit TCP 0039081A.
Curbside airport pickup is standard and included in your flat-rate Rutherford quote. Meet & Greet inside baggage claim with a name placard and luggage assistance is an optional add-on — worth it for long-haul arrivals into SFO or OAK. Wine tours can include cooler storage and glassware on request. For tasting days, Inglenook, Beaulieu Vineyard, Rutherford Hill Winery are all on our regular Rutherford rotation — send us the list and we'll sequence it.
Your Rutherford rate is quoted upfront — flat-rate and all-inclusive for transfers, hourly with a daily minimum for tours. No surge, no metered fares, no hidden fees. Tolls, fuel, and standard wait time are built in.
